How to deal with the acrylic aftermath - OPI Nail Envy

Something every bride to be is concerned about is her nails.  With close up wedding band photos of her and her new husband on the horizon she will want her nails to be looking their absolute best.  I've recently came across a product which is helping me get there.

In the months leading up to Christmas I was obsessed with acrylic nails, and a particular lover of the stiletto style (You can see them in my first post where I am proudly parading my new diamond).  They made me feel super feminine and made up every day without having to do a thing.  Bliss!  I soon became addicted.  Each time I had them removed I was back at the salon within a week having them redone.  I couldn't live without my lovely long artificial nails.

However...

Each time the acrylics were removed my nails underneath were looking worse and worse.  This led to a vicious circle as I couldn't bear the site of my short stubby broken nails but getting more and more acrylics was only worsening the problem.  Oh what to do!?

As an avid follower of many a beauty blog I came across a post by Annie Jaffrey

in which she mentioned the OPI Original Nail Envy Nail Strengthener 15ml.  She talked about how it made her nails strong and allowed them to grow.  This was just what I was looking for!  I rushed out and purchased some for myself.

I was not  disappointed.

A Barclay’s Diamond, a 5K, and a Christmas Day

Put ‘em together and what have you got?  Our engagement story!

Having been together for over 5 years it was “about bloody time”  (as some of our friends and family have been known to put it).  I guess the engagement story starts with a trip to Livingston and a shopping spree in November 2013.  Having perused the Livingston Designer Outlet we decided to visit the shopping centre next door.  Upon entering there was a European market laid out in the middle of the centre selling all kinds of weird and wonderful foods, which looked and smelled amazing!  I was so caught up in this that I was startled when Paul suddenly burst out laughing and said, “I take that’s where I’m buying it then…” I had no clue as to what he was on about.  Being the 5’3” petite wee soul that I am I was unable to see the sign over the market advertising “Barclay’s Diamonds.”  When it came into view I too started laughing and at that moment we both knew that should we ever get engaged there could be no other place to buy my engagement ring. (I should take this time to note that Paul’s last name – and soon to be mine – is Barclay…yeah, probably should have opened with that).

The Lady Said Yes...

Hello and welcome to The Lady Said Yes, the corner of the internet devoted to the upcoming nuptials of Maxine and Paul.
We (Maxine) decided to set up this blog to document our engagement and wedding plans, among other bits and pieces.  Such exciting times are upon us and we want to remember every second of it.

The second reason for creating this wonderful website was to allow us to have a central location for our guests to visit and to provide them with useful information about the big day!  So feel free to comment on anything you would like to see/hear about.

We look forward to sharing the excitement and hope you enjoy everything that happens from the moment the lady said yes…

Speak soon! xxx

Christmas Day 2013:  The day the lady said yes...
A Barclays Diamond. I couldn't possibly be any other!
