Wedding Survival Kit – 7 Handbag Essentials
Wedding season is well and truly upon us. There’s no denying it. This means we ladies are now faced with the dilemma of fitting our lives we carry around day to day into a significantly smaller handbag. No one wants to lug their tote bag to a wedding. So I’ve compiled this list of my top 7 handbag essentials to get me through any wedding. I hope you find some inspiration and be sure to let me know in the comments what you like to keep in your handbag when going to a wedding.
Now, there are two key points which have to be kept in mind when packing your handbag. Firstly, due to the use of the smaller bag you’ll have to be tactical in deciding what makes the cut and what doesn’t. Secondly, and perhaps more importantly, weddings are looooooooooong. As happy and joyous an occasion as they are there’s no denying that it’s quite a shift. So, you need to be prepared to last the whole day.
1. Spare Tights
Being a UK resident, typically despite the sun being out it’s generally still pretty fresh. So I tend to wear tights. And as I’ll inevitably ladder them at some point in my un-ladylike attempt to pull them up a spare pair are a must.
2. Mobile Phone
No explanation necessary.
3. Bank Cards & ID
If you want to buy drinks at the bar and are youthful enough to be asked for ID (it pains me that at 23 I’m being asked less and less…) then these two will be required. You could always carry cash and/or a purse but as I was tight for space in my bag, I slipped my cards in the zip pocket.
Spending the entire day on your feet in high, probably new, shoes means the chances of getting a blister could be fairly high. As you want nothing getting in the way of some serious twisting on the floor you need to carry blister plasters. I swear by Compeed heel plasters but packed some normal ones as well so I was prepared for all eventualities/
5. Hair Bobble/Grips
If you’ve not opted for an updo and worn your long locks down around your face there is almost certainly going to reach a stage in the proceddings (usually during the aforementioned twisting) when you will simply overheat from all that hair and you HAVE to get it off your face.
6. Lipstick…or three
Now 3 lip products might seem a bit extreme but when you’re rocking a red lip like I was at this particular wedding it requires maintenance throughout the day. And I need all 3. I just do… (this is more justification to myself than you…haha).
Because you gotta smell good all day long. This DKNY Women is my current fragrance. I’ve christened it my ‘Aunty Marnie Perfume’ simply because she often wears it and it reminds me of her, bringing back lots of happy memories. Plus, the bottle is petite enough to fit in my small handbag.
So there you have it, my seven wedding handbag essentials. I’d love to know what you pack in your wedding bag. Let me known in the comments and we can add to the list to create the ULTIMATE SURVIVAL KIT!
